Pride as Essential

June 13, 2026

Hello Beautiful Human,

If you are going to take one thing from this week’s newsletter take this:

You are allowed to feel proud.

In fact, feeling proud is a critical part of the journey of accessing your empowerment.

Allowing yourself to feel pride enables:

  • Kicking any lingering “imposter syndrome”
  • Letting go of the habit of overworking
  • Shutting down the brutal inner critic that makes us forget our accomplishments
  • Experiencing authentic confidence

Learning from those who’ve worked towards liberation for centuries, PRIDE (week/month/movement) has its roots in the Civil Rights movement and the history of other oppressed people who refuse to be bound mentally and emotionally with the feeling of shame.

Shame controls. Pride liberates.

Releasing shame about who we are creates internal space.

Space to breathe and develop inspired actions that positively impact our world.

When we allow ourselves to feel proud and witness our positive impact, continued action becomes easeful.

From a brain development perspective, confidence flows as we acknowledge our growth and mastery of skills.

REFLECT:

  • Do you do a good job but find yourself saying it wasn’t good enough?
  • Do you refuse to let yourself feel proud of your hard work?

As a 1:1 holistic leadership coach, I have the privilege of supporting incredible humans. Many who might know it in their head and have the accomplishments to prove it, but struggle to embody authentic confidence.

Working together I help them feel pride in their accomplishments, and in doing so, reconnect with their empowerment, joy, and ease in leadership.

REFLECT:

  • Where do you need to let go of shame?

For me, my journey included release shame around my neurodiversity, growing up not speaking Spanish, and simply being imperfect.

  • What do you need to allow yourself to feel pride?

I know it’s silly, but I’m still working on allow myself to feel proud when clients tell me, that my work has changed their life. It’s uncomfortable, but being shy about it only keeps people from experiencing the transformation that is possible through holistic coaching. A discovery call can help you determine what’s possible for you.

I’ve been thinking a lot about AI – not as a tech expert, but as a human behavior and emotions expert. I feel called to equip individuals with a human-centered perspective how they think and react to our current tech environment.

I am honored to partner with Nonprofit-Apps in sharing this knowledge. Their generous collaboration means no paywall. Just come and learn and develop an empowered approach to change within your organization.

In closing, Pride Month has much to teach us all.
