Leadership Inside Out

Issue 69

What story are you writing in this moment?

March 1, 2025

Hello, How are you?

This week, I’m inviting you to reflect on the story that you are currently living in and what role you are playing.

Every single day there is a soundtrack playing in the background of our mind.

The soundtrack is our belief systems and practiced identity which tells us who we are and how we respond. That soundtrack informs our habits and routines, which reaffirms who we are and what we believe.

But the beautiful thing about being human is… we have the power to CHANGE.

We have the power to questions and expand our beliefs.

We have the power to edit how we see ourselves.

We have the power to change our habits and routines.

I’ve spent over a decade studying and working with the nature of human change. And I am currently taking another accredited course deepening my practice with The Neuroscience of Change. The old saying, people only change when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of changing, doesn’t hold up for me.

We change with a desire for something different. We can change simply propelled by love.

But a lot of people don’t change because they don’t believe that it is even possible.

Many don’t change because they don’t know how to create sustainable change.

We all hold a stories in our mind, and nervous system, about who we are that keeps playing like a soundtrack no matter how much pain the current story is causing.

By bringing awareness to the stories that we believe about ourselves, we then open the door to new possibilities.

Helping individuals tap in to their potential, nurture the practices that support who they are becoming, and develop the skills necessary to achieve their desired results is truly my honor and joy as a coach.

When people sheepishly tell me on discovery calls how they are actually feeling and how they would love to take better care of themselves, feel empowered, or confidently moving towards their goals, I let them know they are not alone and that transformation is absolutely possible.

With a mental, emotional and embodied approach I am equipped to support you in writing whatever story you desire to live into.

Reflection Questions:

  • Who do you want to become?
  • What soundtrack are you currently playing about how this year is gonna to go?
  • What if the challenges you are facing now are actually the catalyst for your desired growth?

Black History Month… EXTENDED INDEFINITELY

While the government is actively banning DEI initiatives and anything that resembles culturally inclusive practices. I got to say, a month was never enough in the first place.

There is no denying the efforts to ban books and erase certain histories now, so just think about how much history and brilliance you missed from the past. It’s a lot.

The histories we are exposed to impact the stories we hold about ourselves and the world. Knowledge is power.

By diversifying your reading, listening, and following list you expand your mind, empathy, and understanding that enables you to integrate diversity, equity, justice, and belonging into your leadership no matter what executive orders are made.

Ronald Tataki’s A Different Mirror is a foundational book in my own diversifying history quest. I shared personally about how learning Chicana (Mexican-American) history profoundly impacted my identity and confidence on the Adelante Leadership Podcast. I’m currently enjoying the work of Jermaine Fowler.
