The Subtle Way to Take Control of your Feelings and Reality

December 6, 2024

Hi reader, How are you?

Really, on a scale of 1 to 10?

1 = Hair on fire, simultaneously dreading and longing for the year-end break.
10 = I’m killing it! Even the news can’t get me down.

I tend to get a mix of responses but one thing that seems to be common is that people have “A lot” going on the difference is how people feel about it.

Whether you are at a 1 or a 10 getting outside support to clarify your thinking and feeling puts you back in the driver seat of your life.

If you are feeling AWESOME, what is contributing to that feeling? Can you dial that up and remember to tap into it when things start feeling crazy?

For example, this month I’m practicing daily gratitude on my IG stories as a way of reflecting on the good that has happened this year. #decembergratitude. I know the value of a daily gratitude but as I see it play out in my mood I want to make sure its a constant through year end.

If you are feeling OVERWHELMED or APATHETIC, what is contributing to that feeling? Write out the actual things that are overwhelming you. How much of what you wrote down are fear base worries vs things that you can powerfully take action on?

For example, how much energy do you spend FEELING overwhelmed vs. powerfully taking action or saying NO to the things that just aren’t priority. No shame, it’s simply about become AWARE of what’s happening in your head so you can get into the driver seat.

Identifying a clear path forward, making progress, and celebrating the ways in which you are powerfully supporting yourself is the difference between feeling like a 1 and 10.

I know this to be true because I help my clients move from being stuck in overwhelm to taking meaningful action by working WITH their nervous system, emotions, thoughts, and embodied response.

It’s hard to see the path forward when we are stuck in an emotion or belief that is negatively effecting our mood and ability to make the progress we want. That’s the value of a holistic leadership coach.

If you don’t think you have time to meet with a coach… it’s probably a good indication you could use help you regain some power over your time.

Reflection Questions:

  • What one thing can you do to take back your power in this season?
Examples: Gratitude Journal, Daily Movement (i.e. exercise that energizes), or Saying ‘NO’ and loving your choice.
