The Possibility

What happens when we let our mind slip through the cracks of our worry and simply be??

Breathing, In, Out.

When we give our nervous system a moment to pause from the mental problem solving, things open up.

Physically speaking, in the parasympathetic state, our visual perception widens, our heart rate slows, and our blood vessels open.

We enter a flow state and possibilities emerge.

Emotionally, we can tap into gratitude, calm, and other positive emotions.

What do you feel when you allow yourself a moment to breathe and be?

We aren’t forcing the worries away, we’re just soaking into the peace that is available in this moment between the inhale and exhale.

  • Release the your shoulders that are all knotted up with tension.
  • Roll your head a few times.
  • Breathe into your belly.
  • Feel your feet on the floor.

This embodied practice isn’t just about reducing stress and protecting your immune system, (although it does that).

It is about tapping into the brilliant ideas and energy that are only accessible in a flow state.

A chronically stressed mind can only think of risk averse solutions, not the innovative, creative, and revolutionary ideas that social impact leaders need now more than ever.

Maybe you slip into the zone of possibility in the shower or other slices of your day when you have a moment to breathe; but the ideas feel foolish or vanish altogether when you’re putting out fires, drowning in overwhelm, or simply living in the habitual “busy mode”.
