The Pause
Hello Beautiful Human – I keep asking myself, what does my community need this week?!
As I reflect on the mountain of concern and care my clients bring to our calls, I want to extend a hug, an exhale, and a spark of inspiration that propels you forward.
If you need a hug -> Give yourself a luxurious amount of time to give and receive a hug from your loved ones.
I am so guilty of rushing through my to- do’s, trying to fit one more thing in before I sign off for the day that I totally miss the moment my kid walks into my office seeking connection.
Human connection is available. Are you open to receive it?
If you need an exhale -> Give yourself a moment simply to BREATHE.
Here’s a guided meditation that I recorded for the We Are For Good podcast last year. Less than 15 minutes and I promise you’ll feel better.
I highly recommend joining me, Oct. 9th at their Impact Up PAUSE virtual event (+ some local meet ups). The social sector is notorious for burnout, but this community is changing the narrative by create space for a different way of doing good.
If you need inspiration -> Check out this beautiful article written by one of my clients, Marcela Rodriguez.
If you don’t have a Tribune subscription, here’s my favorite part:
The message from this year’s parade was clear: We are here. We belong. We contribute. And we will continue to resist injustice while celebrating life, heritage and community.
In a time when division is sown from the highest offices in the land, Little Village offered a vision of unity. In a time when communities are under siege, Little Village danced, marched and sang for freedom. In a time when fear is wielded as a weapon, Little Village reminded us that love, culture and perseverance are stronger.
The parade was not just a celebration of Mexican Independence — it also was a celebration of the spirit of Little Village and of all immigrant communities that refuse to be silenced. It was a reminder that resilience is beautiful and that resistance, when fueled by culture and community, is unstoppable.
Chicago — and the nation — should take note: Little Village is worth celebrating. Always.
Tears. Chills. Yes – Love is stronger!! Be courageous.
Ask yourself – “What do I need in this moment?”
Focus on what you want to create. So many of us get to do meaningful work but we let it fall into the bucket of, I ‘HAVE TO’ do this thing, which feels exhausting and draining. But when we take a step back and think about WHY we do our work we can connect it to love, values, passion. The energy from that place so much more plentiful.
Maybe it is the privilege of providing for your family. Maybe it is the joy of improving organizational culture. Maybe it is using your creativity and strategic mind to improve something.
Write out whatever it is for you and let yourself emotionally connect to the bigger purpose.
I’m here cheering you on and available to help you tap into the clarity and courage you desire to move forward.
Let me know, do any of these tips or recommendations strike a chord with you?
I’d love to hear what you are facing and help you create your own protocol for feeling better, leading courageously, and allowing joy to fuel you.
Be well, Sonya
